Today, we’re announcing a new partnership with the Utah State Board of Education (USBE) to provide access to Gemini for Education for every K-12 school across Utah. Starting in the 2026-2027 school year, this partnership will provide secure AI tools, training and Google Career Certificates to over 708,000 students and educators at no cost.
Utah is home to a vibrant academic community, encompassing roughly 680,000 K-12 learners. Supporting this next generation are more than 28,000 K-12 teachers across the state. With Google for Education’s AI tools, we want to help educators with personalized instruction and provide students with the resources they need to excel.
Helping educators and students save time and expand learning
For educators, Gemini is designed to help streamline administrative tasks and enhance lesson planning. Educators can use these tools to generate customized materials like class assignments, grading rubrics, and summarize classroom discussions, which can help save time to allow educators more time for focused, direct student mentorship. As part of the rollout, USBE and Google will host a statewide webinar on the training opportunities to help ensure seamless implementation across the state.
For students, the technology can help them explore complex concepts, generate creative ideas for projects and receive additional explanations tailored to their needs. Our customized learning tools, like Guided Learning, takes you step-by-step to help you build a deep understanding instead of just getting quick answers. We worked with educators to design Guided Learning to be a partner in their teaching, built on the core principle that real learning is an active, constructive process.
Protecting data and privacy
Privacy is at the core of our education tools. Your content and conversations within Gemini for Education are private, protected with enterprise-grade security, and are not used to train our AI models. Schools maintain full administrative control, helping to ensure a safe digital environment for everyone.
Providing free training and career skills
In addition to the tools, we’re providing free, specialized training on AI literacy and digital citizenship.
The Google AI Educator Series offers practical lessons on using AI to improve student learning.Google Career Certificates and AI training are available at no cost for students, faculty, and staff (Utah grades 9-12) through December 2027, helping them gain skills for high-demand jobs in fields like cybersecurity and data analytics. These industry-recognized credentials are recommended by the American Council on Education (ACE) for up to 16 credits.Together with the USBE, we’re excited to help Utah’s students prepare for the future.
